Choosing the Best Day & Time

There are four types of beach-style wedding sites where we provide wedding services in San Diego... grassy parks  with ocean or bay views, the cliffs and bluffs, urban city park locations, and a few "toes in the sand" beach locations. Some areas overlook the Pacific Ocean, some overlook Mission Bay and others offer views of San Diego Bay and the City Skyline.

All are beautiful and romantic...  but it takes experience, insight and local knowledge to help couples sift through the maze of San Diego wedding locations to find that perfect fit for your special day. Let us assist!

Best Time of Year

Southern California is famous for it's beaches and a "toes in the sand" wedding is often the first choice for couples... it sounds romantic and peaceful, but the reality is that San Diego beaches are typically very crowded on the weekends, and especially during June, July and August.

Shoreline park locations, the cliffs and bluffs may be a better choice during the summer months and will offer more privacy, easier access and easier parking for your guests. We are happy to share our experience and offer suggestions on the best date, time and location for your big day!

Quick Tip: Toes-in-the sand beaches are always less busy during the week and during the off-season Sept thru May.

Best Day of the Week

Saturday is the most popular day for weddings, as well as for other outdoor events and activities, so permits are limited and coastal areas will be busier on Saturdays. If you have flexibility, opt for a Friday, Sunday or weekday... we will have more options all around.

If Saturday is the only day that will work for your wedding, we suggest planning your wedding as far in advance as possible, to give us the best chance of securing a permit for your preferred dates.

Quick Tip: Hotels / reception venues may offer discounted rates Sun - Thur and during the off-season from Sept thru May which could save you $$$.

Best Time of Day

The optimum time of day for an outdoor wedding at the coastal areas in San Diego is the morning. It will be peaceful and quiet and there will be ample parking for your guests. With a morning wedding, you will be married and heading off to your reception, before visitors start arriving for the day.

Dreaming of a sunset wedding? The sun will go down at different times at different times of the year, and some locations will be better than others for those romantic sunset photos. We will help you with the timing and details!

Quick Tip: Consider a 10:30 am ceremony with a luncheon reception. No crowds and it may offer a less expensive reception option that can help keep you on budget and saving $$$.
